"ART WASHES AWAY FROM THE SOUL, THE DUST OF EVERY DAY LIFE."
As long as I can remember, I have found peace and joy in drawing and painting. Being the daughter of a fine artist, Ann Gooding, creativity was always encouraged, nurtured, and greatly valued in our household. One of my earliest memories that led to me choosing a career in art was the perfect joy I felt upon opening a brand new, 64 color box of Crayola crayons! It was in that simple gift, that I recognized endless possibilities.
After graduating from Art Center College of Design in 1992, I worked as an Art Director, a Muralist, a Freelance Designer, and Community College Instructor before I finally embraced my dream of following my path as a Fine Artist. Recently I won “Best of Show” at Ashton Gallery’s “Rendezvous with Red” exhibition for her painting “Scarlet Mist”. I have been juried into 2 Art Exhibitions with Linus Galleries, “Physique” and “Quiet”, and won a “People’s Choice” Award at the San Diego County Fair, Fine Art Exhibition in 2016. I recently sold work to international collectors and designers through Saatchi Art, and various solo shows, and am looking forward to moving to Santa Barbara next Summer, and will be joining the art community there.
I offer a variety of fun, inspiring mobile workshops and classes where artists and aspiring Van Gogh's alike can come together and shake the dust off of everyday life in order to exercise their unique, creative voice. Karen invites you to come relax and connect with your creative energy at a mobile class or workshop at a local winery or in a group class in your own home!
